Kaleido Star

Kaleido Star is an Anime that ran in 2003 in America & Japan. The story follows a 16year old girl named Sora Naegino who travels from Japan to Cape Mary, California to audition for the world renowned, Kaleido Stage. This circus is home to the great Layla Hamilton who has won trophies and recognition for her beauty and talent on the stage. In the first episode, Sora is late to the audition forcing Ken to not allow her to audition. But, her dream isn't over yet! Kalos, simply known as "The Boss" tells Sora to perform in the place of an injured trampoline performer, and after a bit of encouragement from the audience, Sora is able to put on a magical performance! After being told that she's passed her audition, Sora is visited by the Spirit of The Stage and he informs her that if she can see him, then she is meant for the stage. So, with the help of The Fool & her friends, Sora Naegino begins her journey towards true Kaleido Stardom!
Throughout the first season of Kaleido Star, Sora deals with the pressures of being an outcast and tries her best to have her skills recognized by her idol and star, Layla. Sora becomes known for having the power of connecting with her audience and Layla feels threatened. Although Layla acts like a diva, we learn that she is only concerned with the stage's well-being and has her own dreams to fulfill: having her father accept her dreams and skills. After Layla and Sora become friends and partners, the stage goes under. Kaleido Stage is taken over by Yuri Killian, the stage's leading man. After a lot of hardships, and Layla's acceptance of her father's ignorance, The Fool tells the pair that they are ready to start training for "The Legendary Great Maneuver." Every team to attempt this maneuver has died, and the last group to try it included Yuri's father. Yuri considered Kalos to be at fault for his father's death, so he bargains with them. If Sora and Layla can master "The Legendary Great Maneuver" in one month, they can get the Kaleido Stage back. So, the special training begins. For weeks, Kalos trains Sora and Layla in the Grand Canyon and they fight rigorously  to remain unbroken. Towards the end of their training, Layla damages her shoulder. After returning for final rehearsals, Layla is sent to the hospital and told that she couldn't perform, but Layla refuses to listen. Sora, though worried, believes in Layla, and their full commitment to each other and refusing to be afraid of death, prompts The Fool to telling them what "The Legendary Great Maneuver" consists of. The day of the performance, friends found throughout the series flood the audience, and the performance begins. At its climax, the ceiling opens into the night sky and Sora and Layla take the trapeze. There are no lifelines, and there is no net. They swing together, with no fear, and jump. Their right arms meet in the middle and they begin to fly. "The Legendary Great Maneuver" is completed for the first time and the girls have made history. The audience is empowered with faith. The Fool and Kalos explain that "The Legendary Great Maneuver" is a maneuver that shows a complete faith in life that it keeps fear and death at bay. At the end, Sora and Layla push off back towards the swings and Layla's shoulder is damaged even more. Her father, who was finally able to see her performance, sees that Layla's shoulder is so damaged that she will be unable to perform at Kaleido Stage ever again. Sora is heartbroken at the news. Layla tells Sora to be strong and asks if she can be her dream. Amazed at the request, Sora accepts and is now determined to bring back Kaleido Stage and to live as Layla's dream to become a true Kaleido Star!
