The second season starts off with Sora trying to make the Kaleido Stage as great as it was before they went under. The new male lead, Leon Oswald, is a world renowned performer and disproves of Sora's presence on stage. Although he was hired to help the stage and to become Sora's partner, Leon's attitude and ignorance keep pushing her away. Another character that joins the story is May Wong, a new rival for Sora and the self-proclaimed "Next Layla Hamilton!" May, who believes that it's Sora's fault that Layla left the stage, refuses to allow Sora to become Leon's partner at all costs. But, when Leon injures May's shoulder during a performance, we see that the hyperactive girl is no more than a hopeful dreamer who wishes only to be her best. May becomes Leon's partner, and Sora is left in the shadows.
The main point of this season is Sora's wavering emotions. Sora wants to be Layla's dream and become a true Kaleido Star, but having to compete and shatter other people's dreams through the process is breaking her heart. Sora is confused on what dream she wants to accomplish and when she finally decides, she doesn't know how she can make it happen. As soon as she gets her fire back, Leon realizes that Sora is the only person that can possibly become his partner. Sora reminds Leon of his sister, Sophie, who died 3years previously. Sophie was the only person who Leon had approved as his partner, but now that Sora has decided to strive towards her dream of "A stage with no competition," a dream similar to Sophie's, Leon decides to give Sora a chance. Through intensive training, Sora and Leon work towards perfecting the "Angel's Maneuver." This move has never been perfected before and is rumored to be the only pathway for a true Kaleido Star. After finally perfecting the "Angel's Maneuver," Sora is surprised to be challenged for her role as Odette in Kaleido Stage's new production, "Swan Lake." Layla forces Yuri to train with her so that she could challenge Sora. Kalos, Yuri, and Leon all discussed the belief that "only a demon can raise an angel" and during their audition, it became clear that Layla Hamilton was Sora Naegino's demon all along. Although Layla wanted Sora to surpass her and become a star, Layla wanted nothing more than to defeat Sora, and that made her a demon. In the end, Sora became Odette, who's love for the stage surpassed her love for her own well-being while May became Odile, who would give anything to defeat Odette. Sora dreamed of creating a Kaleido Stage free of competition, to bring the audience and performers together, and to awaken everyone's "Angel Hearts." During the opening performance of "Swan Lake," Layla witnessed Sora's miracle as the audience joined Sora on stage and performed together while smiling and enjoying themselves. Everyone who witnessed Sora's Angel Maneuver, chose to fulfill their dreams afterward, and Sora, who wanted only to prove herself to Layla, found out that she could no longer be Layla Hamilton's dream. Layla told Sora that she needed to live her own dream, and that she had made her proud. So, the dream has passed on to the next Fool, and Kaleido Stage has been reborn!
